NOC

Our control room. Servers and virtual machines, backups, antivirus, updates, Internet exposure, lines and firewalls, watched site by site.

The NOC is our control room: the place we watch our clients’ infrastructure from while our clients work. It’s not software we install at your place — it’s a service we run, with our tools and our eyes. You work; someone watches.

What we watch

Not «the server», generically: every piece of the infrastructure has its own check, and every check has its threshold.

  • The node and the virtual machines — the heart of the infrastructure: power, resources, the health of every machine.
  • Backups — that the copies exist, that they are recent, that they are verified.
  • Managed antivirus — the agents installed, up to date, and what they detect.
  • System updates — servers and workstations, with the pending reboots nobody ever does.
  • Internet exposure — what of your network shows from outside, and whether it’s what should show.
  • Data lines — speed and continuity, site by site.
  • Firewalls, access points, storage — the devices nobody looks at until they stop.

Client by client, site by site

The NOC panel doesn’t take averages: it tells each client apart and, within each client, each site. The slow line at the secondary site doesn’t hide behind the main site doing fine.

Every check lives in one of three states: running, when everything answers as it should; attention, when something deserves an eye before it becomes a problem; degraded, when the problem is there and we are on it. Three words, no diplomatic shading.

The difference: we don’t wait for the phone call

The traditional support model is reactive: something breaks, someone calls, someone comes. The NOC flips the order: the anomaly shows up in the control room before it becomes an outage, and often you learn about the problem from us — with things already fixed.

The NOC is one piece of a larger watch

Watching is one part of the job: around it sit systems support, business continuity and managed security. The full watch is told here →
