eAutomation
Software for running industrial plants: the eAutomation application drives an electronic board with proprietary firmware. The company's first research exercise.
Official title, in Italian: «Studio, analisi e sviluppo di software per la gestione di impianti industriali volta alla reingegnerizzazione della produzione attraverso applicazione eAutomation che pilota scheda elettronica con firmware proprietario».
Goal
Bring production re-engineering into the industrial plants that already exist. Not a new machine, but the software and electronics that govern the existing one: an application driving a board with firmware written by us, and an electrical cabinet designed from scratch around that logic.
What was built
The heart of the system is the cabinet: a front panel with a touch display, and inside it a nine-relay board governed by a Raspberry Pi, with inputs for PT100 and PTC/NTC temperature probes, shunts for reading voltage and current, a USB-485 bus and auxiliary contacts.
The on-board software holds the plant’s logic: level float switches, heaters with settable threshold and tolerance, an agitator, a rectifier with volt and ampere readings, the filter pump, weekly power-on timers, and an emergency chain that shuts the automation down and demands a manual reset.
The 2018 evolution
A year later the platform reached new machines: the ultrasonic tank, with a timed generator that stops on its own if the liquid level drops, and the three-element resistance oven with a fan and an actuated door, guarded by a safety thermostat.
What came out was a working prototype with a dedicated touch interface, and a complete operating manual: a single screen with the start and stop controls, the handling of times and temperatures, and the state of relays, circuit breakers and alarms always in view.
